Damian Lillard celebrated a personal milestone and contributed a season-high 40 points as the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 132-119 on Tuesday.

Lillard reached 20,000 career points, becoming the eighth active player to achieve the feat, joining an exclusive club that includes LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. He accomplished the feat in his 794th game, making him the 17th fastest player to accomplish it.

"I don't want to pretend to downplay it like it's nothing," Lillard said." I know it's a big deal. It's a great accomplishment. It's a rare space."

Lillard's sharp shooting, including seven 3-pointers, has been crucial for the Bucks, who are currently second in the Eastern Conference with a 20-7 record. Coach Adrian Griffin praised Lillard's offensive prowess, emphasizing his ability to space the floor and his weaknesses.

"He can shoot, he can space the floor, he can put a lot of pressure on your defense," Griffin said." If you bring your bigs up, he can get around them. He's strong enough and physical enough to finish at the rim. He has no weaknesses on the offensive end."

While Lillard has shined for the Bucks, the Spurs are still struggling as they suffered their 20th loss in 21 games. Star rookie Victor Venbanyama's absence due to an ankle injury added insult to injury. Coach Gregg Popovich gave a brief update on Vumbanyama's condition and did not expect him to be out for an extended period of time.

The Bucks look to extend their winning streak as they close out a six-game road trip to Orlando on Thursday. The Spurs will travel to Chicago to play the Bulls on the same day.
