Gaza's Health Ministry warned on Saturday that Israel was attacking Shifa Hospital, which may be starving.

"No food or water supplies have entered the Shifa General Hospital for the past eight days," Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said in a statement published by Al Jazeera.

Patients at Al-Shifa hospital are suffering from hunger and displaced people cannot find a piece of bread," he said.

The spokesman said the hospital had been cut off from the outside world due to a breakdown in communications.

"Patients are starving. Piles of garbage are posing a new threat to those trapped in the medical center," he said.

There are between 7,000 and 10,000 people in the hospital and the food allowed into the hospital is only enough for 400 people," Kudla said.

At least 51 patients, including four premature babies, have died at Shifa Hospital since Friday, he said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli forces raided the medical center in Gaza City, following large-scale attacks around the hospital as part of a military offensive against the blockaded territory.

The latest figures show that more than 12,000 Palestinians have been killed, including more than 8,300 women and children, and more than 30,000 others have been injured since Israeli bombardment of Gaza began on October 7th.

Thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques and churches, have also been damaged or destroyed in Israel's relentless air and ground attacks on the besieged enclave.

Israel's blockade has also cut off Gaza's fuel, electricity and water supplies and minimized the delivery of aid.

Meanwhile, according to official figures, the death toll in Israel is estimated at 1,200.
